Accessibility Statement

Magnolia Megan is for everyone who loves North Carolina, and we want everyone to be able to use it. We are committed to making magnoliamegan.com accessible to people with disabilities, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive technology.

Our Goal

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These are the widely used international guidelines for making websites accessible.

What We Have Done

Descriptive text (alt text) on images
Text and background colors chosen for readable contrast
Labels on every form field, and signup confirmations that screen readers announce
Full keyboard support, including our signup popup and mobile menu (press Esc to close them)
Pause buttons on all moving video, and videos that stay paused if your device is set to reduce motion
A "Skip to main content" link and clear page structure with headings and landmarks
Links that open in a new tab tell screen reader users that they do
Regular testing with automated accessibility tools and manual keyboard checks

Known Limitations

We are always working to improve. Some areas may not yet be fully accessible:

Downloadable PDF guides: our printable guides may not work perfectly with every screen reader. If you need a guide in another format, email us and we will send it.
Third-party tools: some features are provided by other companies, such as our bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile), newsletter signup and account pages (Beehiiv), payment processing (Stripe), interactive map tiles, and our community (Discord). We choose providers that support accessibility, but we do not control their designs.
Older content: some older articles may have images or formatting that we have not yet reviewed.
